AUBURN, Ala. (AP) - A North Carolina-based bank has agreed toadvertise from signs at Auburn University sporting events, aiding
the Auburn broadcast network financially after the collapse of its
previous sponsor, Colonial Bank.
BB&T Corp. of Winston Salem, N.C., took over the
Montgomery-based Colonial after it was seized by state regulators
earlier this month. Auburn's sports network president Mike Hubbard
began scrambling for sponsors and reached the deal with BB&T.
He said signs will be in place at Jordan-Hare stadium in time
for the kickoff of the Tigers' season opening football game against
Louisiana Tech on Sept. 5.
