MOBILE, Alabama - On Tuesday, December 15 and Thursday, December 17, The Salvation Army will hold its annual Angel Tree Distribution in Mobile. The Distribution Center, commonly referred to as The Salvation Army’s “toy warehouse” is located at 65 Sidney Phillips Drive, Mobile AL 36607 (old Dillard’s warehouse, across from Phillips Prep School). Distribution will be held on both days from 9:00a.m. to 4:00p.m. All registered participants must have their photo ID and the claim tickets they were given at registration in order to pick up gifts.

Many angels are still left on the tree this holiday season; as many as 1800 with 1 week left to go in the program. The main public tree for Mobile is located inside Bel-Air Mall. The last day to adopt an angel is Sunday, December 13 and all gifts purchased for “angels” are due on December 13 at 6:00p.m. “We are asking the community to open their hearts and make Christmas a little brighter for children in our area by adopting an angel this holiday season”, states Area Commander Major Ted Morris.

The Salvation Army is also in need of volunteers to assist with the distribution. “With more than 5000 children registered through this program in Mobile and Baldwin Counties, more volunteers are needed this year for distribution”, states Stacey Killingsworth, Director of Public Relations and Volunteer Services. “Please consider giving the gift of time by volunteering.”

I will be donating some money as well as other co-workers at my job to adopt an angel today and I encourage other employers and employees to do the same. There are many hard working families that have lost their jobs this year and can’t afford Christmas. I hope that people unite together to adopt more angel trees because you never know if next year you might need help because you have lost your job!
