Two short plays add up to a full evening of entertainment at Pensacola Little Theatre. This May, Studio 400 offers a comedy by Pensacola author Rick Jank, and an unpublished musical-comedy by two South Carolina writers.
Jank’s “This is Heaven” centers on a recently deceased couple (Austin Holt and Jennifer Haley) trying to find their way in the afterlife with the help of an unorthodox angel (Barbara Jacobs).
Rick Jank has been active for several years at PLT, both on-stage and backstage. His foray into acting rekindled his urge to write and led to “This is Heaven.” He calls the play “a love song” to Cindy, his wife of twenty years.
“Imogene’s Wash and Go Beauty Shop” is a musical from the South Carolina writing team of Bob Showalter and Ed Connolly. Michelle Hancock plays the title role of a much-married hairdresser offering advice to a young bride (Stephanie Rhobotham). Beth Ramirez de Arellano appears as a psychic who predicts a dire outcome for the wedding day!
Both plays are directed by Rodney Walker, who has been acting and providing technical support at Pensacola Little Theatre for more than 30 years.
“This is Heaven” and “Imogene’s Wash and Go” are playing for two weekends:
May 29-31, at 8:00pm
June 6 and 7, at 8:00pm
June 8, at 2:30pm
Tickets are $12 for café seating and $8 for general admission and can be purchased at the Box Office or by phone at 850-432-2042. The Box Office is open 10am to 5:30pm, Monday through Friday, and one hour prior to curtain on performance dates.
