Appartenly the good governor took heed to some of those complains because on Monday... the state extended its red snapper season in Alabama state waters to October 31.This coming from state conservation commissioner, Barnett Lawley.
Gov. Riley wrote in a letter to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration saying he supports efforts to ensure that the nation's marine resources are effectively managed and protected.
But he also wrote that he can't let Alabama fishermen be penalized unless NOAA addresses lack of support from other states.
Florida and Texas have declined over the last two years to adopt some or all federal red snapper regulations in their state waters.

Why not? He isnt doing anything relevant with his time anyway. Yea, lets spend all of our time extending fishing season and ignore the fact that our death penalty system needs to be abolished and rebuilt.
