TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is promisingFlorida House members that she will not allow an energy bill to get
through her chamber if it includes oil drilling off Florida's Gulf
Coast.
Florida's nine Democratic House members met with Pelosi twice on
Wednesday to seek protection for the state's coast.
Pelosi's office confirmed Thursday that she agreed to help,
assuring Florida's delegation that legislation moving through the
House would have to adhere to a moratorium on drilling in the
eastern Gulf of Mexico through 2022.
