(CBS/ AP) - TLC network has shut down filming of the children on "Jon & Kate Plus 8" after receiving a cease-and-desist order from their father, Jon Gosselin.

In a statement, the network said production would remain suspended "pending further conversations" between both Gosselins, who are parents of young twins and sextuplets. Filming not directly involving the kids continues, TLC said Thursday.

The Insider Web site reported Thursday that Gosselin demanded through his lawyers that the TLC production crew vacate the property of the family home in Pennsylvania.

In its statement, TLC said it remained "deeply disappointed at his continued erratic behavior. He and the family were shooting as recently as last Friday, without incident. ..."

"Despite Jon Gosselin's repeated self-destructive and unprofessional actions, he remains under an exclusive contract with TLC," the network said.

On "The Early Show" Thursday, Lara Spencer, host of "The Insider," said that "Gosselin and his lawyer tell "The Insider' exclusively that Jon and Kate both own the property where the show is being shot. Jon has joint custody of the kids and is able to make decisions about their welfare. He deemed it was not in the best interest of the children's welfare to continue with production of the show."

She also reported that Gosselin was not told in advance and learned only from news reports of the producers' decision to focus the show on his wife and rename it "Kate Plus Eight."

Gosselin's lawyer, Mark Jay Heller, did not immediately return calls to The Associated Press.

The Gosselins filed for divorce in June, after weeks of reports of marital discord.

On Monday, TLC announced that the weekly series would be renamed "Kate Plus Eight," with a reduced involvement by Jon Gosselin.

They will have to put her on suicide watch when she finely sees what she did. All that matters in life is family and she trashed hers for the glitter of gold. She will die a lonely death. It is sad to watch.

You are right,it is a train wreck. But the kids are already acting like spoiled little brats. Wonder where they learned that from,oh mommy dearest. He’s gotten some bad press, but honestly, I can’t say that I blame him for cheating after living with that shrew. Surprised it lasted as long as it did. Someone needs to commit that crazy woman.

I am glad to see that Jon has finally stood up and said enough is enough. However, I feel he is doing this more for Spite than anything else.

But as ick stated I do wonder how long it will be before Jon is striped of all parental rights and have his kids taken from him in the name of greed and hate.

With TLC getting so upset about this only goes to prove that without the kids the show would be nothing and they know they are exploiting these kids for money. No kids means no money and TLC knows this so they will do whatever it takes even if it means causing Jon to loose his parental rights.

TLC is not about to give up the cash cow and nether is Hate, I mean Kate. They will soon have him in court and strip him of all right to the kids, property and the show. These kids will be a crew of nuts knowing, the show about them drove greed and hate into the very heart of there family. I’m glad to see he has a backbone now that he is out from under the succubus Kate. This train wreck needs to end.
