SAN DIEGO (AP) - See you at the pole. That's what Christian students may be telling classmates as they
leave school this afternoon.
Students nationwide are expected to gather around their school
flagpoles before classes tomorrow to pray for each other, for their
schools and for their nation.
This will be the 19th annual "See You At The Pole," an event
held on the fourth Wednesday in September. Organizers predict that
up to two million students will take part this year.
The Reverend Doug Clark, national promotion coordinator for See
You At The Pole, says it can take courage to be openly Christian in
public school. And while parents and youth pastors may encourage
participation, he says each school's prayer gathering is
student-initiated and student-led.
