CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - New Hampshire education officials want to
allow some high school students to graduate two years early and
start taking community college courses.
State education Commissioner Lyonel Tracy said the goal is to
give students who are ready a chance to get a jump-start to their
college education. Students who pass the exam - which has yet to be
developed - wouldn't necessarily have to start taking college
courses. And those who do still could take part in high school
extracurricular activities.
The proposal, which would limit students to taking courses
offered by local community colleges, was inspired by a report that
argued that American education needs a drastic overhaul to remain
competitive in the global economy.

I think it is a great idea. It makes sense, and some people are ready to get out! Why not? And who says the parents have to pay for college? That kind of annoys me. If they are smart enough to get out of highschool early, I guarentee you that they can get a scholarship, there are always grants… and gasp, here’s a thought… what if they worked, and paid for it themselves? We could actually teach our kids some responsibility for once. Isn’t that kind of what we need right now annyways? It’s been working great for me, and actually paying for my own school gives me more insentive to make better grades.

THE OTHER PROBLEM TO THIS WOULD BE PARENTS COMING OUT OF POCKET EARLIER TO PAY FOR CLASSES THAT ARE FREE TO TAKE AT HIGH SCHOOLS.

This is a great opportunity. I did early admissions to South Alabama. Believe me, I didn’t miss a thing in high school!

I think there is more to this than meets the eye.
