Monday former quarterback Michael Vick was reinstated into the National Football League, but as of Wednesday morning, no team has signed him.
Vick served 18-months in prison for a dog fighting crime. Now he's fighting to get a chance to get back on the field.
Before his conviction, he was the quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons and was reportedly the highest paid player in the NFL.
Now that he's a free man, vick is looking for a team and a contract.
But his job hunt in the NFL is not going to be easy.
Football Commissioner Roger Goodell said Vick can practice and play in the final two games of the pre-season but he -- Goodell-- will decide whether he plays in the regular season.
Vick says his time in prison has "given me time to re-evaluate my life, mature as an individual and fully understand the mistakes I have made."
A number of teams have already said they would "not" sign Vick for various reasons.
Michael Vick will be working with the Humane Society to help steer young people away from dog fighting.

Web Wednesday:

Michael Vick has served his time. Do you think he should get a second chance to play in the NFL ? Why or Why not?

Good points bobcat.

There are so many different views and opinions with this case and it brings attention to many other branches of gambling, fighting, torture and abuse.  Some may wonder why this has caused such an uproar while other animal fighting is permitted.  Some may question the abuse that humans endure in cage fighting and boxing for gambling purposes. What about the little girls that are forced to compete against their will in child beauty contest in the name of a crazed mother?  Does it seem that in the views of abuse and torture that dogs are given a higher level of protection and rights while children are mentally abused and humans are beaten within an inch of their life in the name of sport?

Roger Goodell is as much to blame for Vick’s return as the “dog-murderer” himself! when asked about it before he got caught, he out right lied to the N.F.L. commissioner! if the Falcons weren’t doing so well with a real Quarterback i’d stop watching the over-paid uneducated crack-heads in the “no-fun-league” all together!!!

Regardless of the outcome for Mr. Vicks he shall be and forever known as a EX_CON and that he deserves to the day he dies.

no life is worthless . I do not do right always
but i try to.  one day he will have to give account for what he did.  the animals did not ask
to be inprisoned or abused. The good Lord gave man
the knowlege of right and wrong.  I am glad that

The gucci law had nothing to do with gambling or money so to say the govt. doesn’t care about “funky dogs” so again that you don’t know and don’t care about cruelty of any kind.

Vick says his time in prison has “given me time to re-evaluate my life, mature as an individual and fully understand the mistakes I have made.”

LOL, yeah he was thinking the whole time, “Should have had better security” Who really cares if he comes back or not, I don’t.

Actually, what it all boils down to was that the government did not get its share of the gambling money and we are going to make an example out of a superstar with money! It wouldn’t have been an issue if this was some trailer park or ghetto dog fight. Just a few days in jail. Be truthful, the government didn’t get its cut and let’s go after this guy because he has money. It (the government) could care less about the humanity of some funky dogs. End of discussion!

people today need to get a grip and a clue. You are all missing the point of his jail time and his crime that he has paid for in full. He did not just fight a smelly old dog at a fight. I do believe it was for having many dogs and promoting and making the fights and betting possible or being part of a group that was doing that. I don’t know if he was convicted of that or not and really don’t care. He was making it possible for the gambling and fighting to happen. That kind of thing is what the NFL leaders should have looked at more that what the people think of the blood sport of dog fighting. He was part of illegal gaming for profit. Blood sports are still with use in one form or another. Football its self is a blood sport in a form. Modern day gladiators of the gridiron. Dog and cock fighting is legal in many parts of the free world and I do believe cock fighting is legal in one of more of the U.S. Territories.

Yes, he did his time. if someone wants to hire him, that’s up to that franchise, not us. he’s a football player, not working for the government. remember marv albert, the famous sports announcer who was arrested for forcible sodomy, who was hired back to NBC less than two yrs later(suspended sentence) and is still admired as a great announcer…move on & let go people.
