BAY MINETTE, Ala. (AP) - Police say initial reports that a10-year-old boy accidentally shot and wounded himself were
incorrect and that his 16-year-old brother has been charged with
reckless endangerment.
Bay Minette Police Chief Michael Rowland said the boys' mother,
Lynn Pogue, took the teen to the police station Tuesday morning.
He said the teen admitted his role and was taken to the county
youth detention center. Investigators became skeptical about parts
of the initial reports.
Police say the teen got the gun from his grandmother's room
about midnight Saturday and it discharged while he showed it to his
younger brother. The wounded boy, with injuries to a finger and
cheek, was released from a hospital Sunday.
