One Alabama State Trooper near the Wilcox Exit reported seeing the bikers speeding at over a hundred miles an hour.
Anothter trooper further west estimated they were going over 140 miles an hour.
Troopers called ahead and blocked the westbound lanes of the Bayway near the Causeway exit and stopped the motorcyclists.
12 were taken into custody.
Authorities say the motorcyclists were all taken to the Baldwin County Jail and are charged with traffic violations.
News 5 spoke with one of the bikers, Terry Moore, who says the 12 arrested were part of a larger group of military and retired military riders who were on their way to Mobile to take part in a cancer charity event.
Moore claims the "real" speeders avoided the roadblock. But, he says he's not bitter and that the troopers were just doing their jobs.

My comments are only referring to the riders who endanger others on the road. I have nothing against your normal average everyday motorbike rider. Honestly, if you pay attention, most of those folks are laid back enjoying the wind and sun with big smiles on their faces. When I see a motorbike coming up behind me or have to pass one, I try to pay more attention and be respectful since they don’t have 4K of metal around them. Hope you guys don’t think we are knocking you all. Ride on~
