Mobile police arrested the man wanted for snatching a woman's purse outside the Target store on Schillinger Road.

Tips from witnesses led police to a home in the 7200 block of Bellingrath Road on Thursday around midnight. Inside they found 25-year-old Justin Ballard and his mom. They also recovered the victim’s purse and credit cards.

Ballard is charged with theft of property. Police say he grabbed a 30-year-old woman purse Tuesday night and then took off in a red and white, Ford dually pick-up truck.

This is second time Ballard has been arrested this year. He was arrested earlier this year for stealing copper from a local shipyard.

I tried today to talk to some one at the sheriff’s department about it. I gave them my name and what I was calling about and then I was told to wait for a moment and was abruptly hung up on TWICE ! So I think they’re trying to tell me something. Might be nothing to do with this vehicle but I thought it worth a mentioning to them.

Yeah I would like to hear more about the shooting on Hwy 45 and the gentleman shot and the white oldsmobile… Of course, on the same line of thinking if the white oldsmobile that you say you have seen is associated with 2 black males then it might be worth talking to detectives that are working the case.  They may have info that they do not want to release that might match up with what you can share with them, or maybe not.  None the less, the public is a valuable asset to the police and the only way to solve crime in our commuities is by being observant of your surroundings.

Since none of us know any of the back-story about the named person, we can only guess at the intent.  I think in the future it would be better to just say that person looks very familiar and then tell the cops what your thoughts are.

A lot of recent crimes seem to have gone quiet.  Never learn if they have been solved or if any new information came to front whatsoever.

Going along with this line of thought on mistaken identity, Has anyone seen any description of the white Oldsmobile used in the shooting at a store up highway 45 ? The one where the son was shot going into the store where his mother was. The police are not really forth coming on information on these crimes.

Bamabob I totally agree.  I guess the guy hasn’t seen this, and I guess Mobilegirl82 hasn’t followed up on the story because I would have hoped that she would have posted some sort of retraction or apology to the guy.  There is such thing as slander/libel.  I know there is a difference and I doubt very seriously that an honest mistake would qualify but I think serious consequences should come to those who show reckless disregard for others good name.

I’m not condemning any one’s right to express an opinion, but this incident might be some food for thought.  If I saw my name on a news site being accused of a crime, I would be a little more than PO’d.

You are so right.  I think calling the authorities was sufficient enough but this is a public forum and people have the right to post what they want....

I have often wonder how many people have resembled others that might be featured on America’ Most Wanted, or another program of that type have had some real headaches from it.

Kind of a shame the other guy’s name was spelled out on this site though.

well as you can see eyewitness statements are unreliable for many reasons.  I am sure Mobilegirl 82 thought honestly that she knew the person but luckily for that man, someone else called in and gave up the right guy. It happens all the time, misidentification, the only problem is sometimes it costs people years of their lives

OOPS, I heard it was someone else, but either way, glad he was caught!
