OPELIKA, Ala. (AP) - The Humane Society of the United States is
offering a reward up to $2,500 for information leading to the
conviction of the person who beat and sliced open a puppy that was
found with sticks protruding from its body.

A Lee County Sheriff's official said Tuesday there had been no
arrests. A resident at a mobile home park found the puppy's remains
on June 2 and called the Lee County Humane Society.

"Those who abuse animals can be dangerous to people," HUSA's
Alabama state director Mindy Gilbert said in a news release
Tuesday. "Americans have no tolerance for violence against the
creatures who share our world."
