HAMPTON, Va. (AP) - Suspended NFL star Michael Vick's federal
dogfighting sentence has ended, freeing him to lobby for a return
to the field.
Vick's attorney Lawrence Woodward said Vick was released from
federal custody Monday at his home in Virginia. Vick had been under
home confinement for the last two months of his 23-month sentence.
The federal Bureau of Prisons had listed Vick's release date as
Monday.
Freedom will allow Vick to step up his efforts to resume his pro
football career. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has said he will
review Vick's status after the former Atlanta Falcons quarterback
completes his sentence.
If Vick is able to return to the NFL, it won't be with Atlanta.
The Falcons released Vick in June.

Turnipman…you are correct. I did present my statement as a double standard.

They both did wrong, and paid a price, which our legal system says was due, and have been released.

I let my personal feelings enter into my statement.

According to our society and legal system, they should be afforded the right to move on with their lives, and be a productive member of society.

We should all have forgiveness in our hearts. I just have very strong feelings about people who have been, or are, cruel to animals.

It will take me awhile to get past that. In the meantime, I won’t watch him play.

Night Owl, Thats a double standard. Both athletes were convicted of crimes, served thier time as set by Judge and Jury, and then released to get on with life, hopefully re-habilitated. I agree, Rose SHOULD BE IN THE HALL OF FAME, he has done his time for the crime. Do you think Pete stopped gambling? I would “BET” that Vick will NEVER own a dog again. Most likely, that was part of his sentence.

He paid a minimal debt for being cruel to animals, because he could afford good lawyers.

Pete Rose paid his debt, and should be in the Hall of Fame, but he didn’t cause the death or maiming of animals.

You guys can watch him (Vick) all you want, but I will not watch any team that hires him.

He paid his debt. He did his time. Let him play!

Let him play!! He has paid his debt to society. He admitted his envovlement, and acknowledged it was wrong!! What else do you want, Another “Pete Rose” fiasco? Besides, I am a BIG SAINTS FAN and we NEED HIM!!!! (I hope the Saints can aquire him once Goodell allows him to return)

He got what he deserved.  I work at a vet clinic and we see abused animals all the time.  I’m glad the NFL dumped him.
