YEA,I guess you would have to take a vow of poverty if you went through a divorce or two and I wonder how a judge would rule when just two males were involved in a dis-union.

Why is it the majority of people in this world are constantly told that we should be tolerant of different lifestyles, yet the fringe type people never ever show tolerance to those of us with fundamental values?

Why push the whole “marriage” issue when everyone knows that is rooted in religious doctrine?  Call it something else and be done with the issue.  But, all should suffer divorce equally! lol

good post carl. probably represents more views than you know. marrage, fundamentally is between a man and a woman. there is something people who fall outside of that definition to do to protect thier rights, power of attorney, making thier wishes known etc. but the protected rights that come with marrage are reserved for the man woman thing.

Well good morning everyone!Another Christmas is behind us and we survived.I see the subject is still strong and here with us. I believe a Marriage should still be defined as between a male and female and call anything else,male to male or female to female,something else such as a union or joining but with the same responsibilities and rights as a marriage between a male and female.I don’t like seeing special considerations being given to any group,gay or not and it Irks me to no end to see these hate crime laws passed.Laws applied equally should serve everyone well enough.How is one person or one life worth more than another?In my opinion that’s exactly what hate crime laws do,is place a higher value on one life than another.Laws should be to join people together for the common good and not to give any group more weight.Marriage should still be defined as between male and female as it has for ages and anything else what ever that is agreed upon.Fire Away!

gay power, when a gay soldier joins and signs that dotted line, he or she agrees to the rules. i do not see where anyone that is a victim of violent crimes should be given special rights. all violent offenders should be charged the same. gays should not have special rights. marriage is between a man and a woman. now if you think enough of a person to marry, then power of attorney should be no problem. you might change mans laws but you will never change Gods laws. to be homosexual is going against nature. if you choose to be gay, that is your right. as long as it does not involve me or my family its none of my business. no where in the bible does it read we should stone gays, but nowhere in the bible does it read we are to agree with a homosexual lifestyle.

Actually, I don’t think most Americans really want justice.  They want revenge.  A woman lied and said some Duke boys raped her.  I didn’t hear too many people yelling for justice.  She broke several laws and faced NO charges.  Hate is a God-given right.  As long as that hate does not infringe on the rights of others to live in peace.  When hate turns violent, it is a crime.  A dangerous crime.  You should not have to give Power of Attorney to someone just to try and justify your love legally.  You should be allowed to marry.  If a ‘straight’ soldier can kiss a non-family member publically, a gay soldier should be allowed to kiss a non-family member publically.  If people don’t like it, they can wear dark shades or look in another direction.  Love should never be outlawed.  Support gay marriage.  Stop violence against gays.  Gays have a right to exist.  We have a right to love.  We have a right to be happy.  That why they call us GAY!

merry christmas to all, i believe gays do have the same rights. now did that gay soldier not have any other family to greet him or her? i am sure others did not have a husband or wife. the gay who wants absolute control of someone should have a power of attorney drawn up. they will decide everything about who gets to visit in the hospital. if you trust someone enough to take vows with them you should trust them enough to give them power of attorney. most of the time that is better than a marriage certificate. now as to the rape. if this had been some little crack head it would not have had the media attention. a violent crime like this is terrible i do not care who the victim is. the attckers should be brought to justice.

Gays serve with honor in the U.S. Military.  A gay soldier serves a year tour in Iraq.  While there, his platoon gets in a firefight with terrorist.  He and several others are wounded.  They come home heroes.  They find out the group of terrorist they were fighting were planning an attack on the airport when the Secretary of State arrived for a visit later that week.  They arrive home to TV cameras and cheers.  The band is playing “God Bless America” and flags fill the crowd.  As their feet hit U.S. soil for the first time in 12 months, loved ones come running.  Hugs and kisses begin to outnumber the flags.  The gay soldier stands alone as his buddies hug their girlfriends and wives.  The gay soldier stands alone.  The love of his life is a nameless face in the crowd longing to run up and welcome his partner of 5 years home.  He can’t The gay soldier must stand alone.  He could take a bullet for his country but his country won’t let him hug the most important person in his life.

If you were to put the word Heterosexuality in the place of Homosexuality in your comment and then read it, it would be the same concept. right?
They are not asking for a licence to have sex.  They are asking for the acknowledgment of marriage so that they can have the same “legal rights” as other do. You know, like being able to see their partner of 50 years in the hospital when “family members only” are allowed and many, many other basic legal privileges that married couples share.
Does that help you to understand this in an in depth way any better than just having sex?
