PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Parole has been rejected for a RhodeIsland inmate who was caught partying in a prisoner costume in a
Facebook picture before he was sentenced for a drunken driving
crash.
Joshua Lipton must continue serving a two-year prison sentence,
under a decision Monday by the state Parole Board. It was Lipton's
first attempt at early release.
The board said it believed Lipton should serve his full
sentence.
Prosecutors say Lipton was drunk and speeding when he seriously
injured a woman in a car crash.
Two weeks later, the then-college junior attended a Halloween
party dressed in an orange jumpsuit labeled "Jail Bird." The
picture was posted on the social networking site, and prosecutors
used it at Lipton's sentencing.
