Monday was a frightening afternoon for a former Baldwin County middle school principal.
Robertsdale Police said Ronnie Green was robbed at gunpoint in his own home in the 23000 Block of College Avenue.
Green is the former principal of Central Baldwin Middle School in Robertsdale.
Police said Green was in his backyard when he heard a noise inside his house shortly before 1:30.
They said he walked inside and was confronted first by one man, then a second.
Sergeant Rex Bishop with the Robertsdale Police Department said, "This subject was armed with a handgun. At that time, the subject with the handgun demanded some money. They took an undetermined amount of money. They had the homeowner then go into a closet where they shut the door behind him, and tried to secure it so he couldn't get out."
Police said Green waited in the closet for 15 to 20 minutes and then called 911.
He wasn't hurt.
Green didn't want to talk on camera.
Eddie Keenan lives next door to Green.
He said he was surprised by the home invasion and had just been out working in his yard.
Keenan said, "I was cutting grass until about I guess 12:15 pm or so, it started raining, so I went in. We had lunch and then we saw the police cars and all within an hour or so."
Charles Coley, a former mayor of Robertsdale, lives right across the street from Green.
Coley said, "We know Ronnie a long time. He's not one to lock in the closet. When he comes out, he'll come out swinging, I can assure you."
Robertsdale Police said Green did not know the suspects.
They said they're looking for two white men in their late teens or early 20's.
Police said the two have medium to small builds, about 140 to 150 pounds, 5'10 to 6'0.
They said one had short brown hair, the other sandy blond hair.
If you have any information, contact Robertsdale Police.
