Police in Baldwin County are on the lookout for an armed suspect in the robbery of the Rite Aid drug store in Foley. Just before nine o'clock Wednesday morning police say a tall, skinny man, armed with a gun walked to the pharmacy counter and demanded Oxycontin. Police say he left empty-handed. Surveillance video shows the man coming into the store and then rushing outside.
Police surrounded the area, used a police dog to try and trick the bandit, even put a nearby daycare center in lockdown while they searched. Lt. David White says they believe he ran from the store to a waiting car. Surrounding police agencies have been put on alert describing the suspect as "desperate".
Witnesses said the man had freckles, was about 6-feet, 2-inches tall and weighed 160 to 170 pounds.
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call the Foley Police Department at 251.943.4431.
