Foley Drug Store Robbery

Police in Baldwin County are on the lookout for an armed suspect in the robbery of the Rite Aid drug store in Foley.

Just before nine o'clock Wednesday morning police say a tall, skinny man, armed with a gun walked to the pharmacy counter and demanded Oxycontin. Police say he left empty-handed. Surveillance video shows the man coming into the store and then rushing outside.

Police surrounded the area, used a police dog to try and trick the bandit, even put a nearby daycare center in lockdown while they searched. Lt. David White says they believe he ran from the store to a waiting car. Surrounding police agencies have been put on alert describing the suspect as "desperate".

Witnesses said the man had freckles, was about 6-feet, 2-inches tall and weighed 160 to 170 pounds.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call the Foley Police Department at 251.943.4431.

One of the brothers that owns the Quizno’s on Government & Cathrine, considers himself “black” and he has freckles. Lucy Lu, the famous actress is Asian and has freckles. I’m a wonderful Heinz 57 mutt and I have freckles.

Freckles? must have been white, but if they could see freckles, then they should have been able to say, he looked caucasion, or hispanic or black. Not to hard of a thing to notice.

Wow. Way to go on describing the robber. Why is the media so scared to say if he is white / black / hispanic. Maybe if you provided a better description, the citizens would be able to help more. Or are you too scared to “offend” someone by mentioning race?
