LAUREL, Miss. (AP) - Police say a Laurel school teacher was
stabbed to death because two suspects wanted to steal her
flat-screen television.
The details in the case against 17-year-old Kenya Davis and
23-year-old Rickey Gavin emerged Wednesday during their first
appearance in Laurel Municipal Court. They're accused in the Sunday
murder of 29-year-old Rebecca Pruitt, an elementary school teacher.
Judge Cecelia Arnold denied bond for Davis and Gavin, both of
Laurel. They're charged with capital murder, robbery and arson.
Police say Pruitt's home was set on fire to hide the murder.

This story is so sad.  This was a young vibrant teacher who allowed these people into her home to use the phone because they claimed they had a flat tire.  According to her husband she knew of the suspects from living in the neighborhood.  According to the statments from the suspects Mrs. Pruitt asked them to eat lunch with her since she had just finished cooking, they sat down and ate with her and when they were through the male subject knocked her unconscious, she was stabbed I believe 18 times and bound with duct tape.  All this is according to http://www.leadercall.com

The outpouring of her class and fellow teachers has been overwhelming. She is truly missed by all who knew her and has touched many lives that she didn’t even know.  RIP Ms. Pruitt
