A fire lead police and firefighters to a marijuana operation in Shalimar. When firefighters arrived at Jon King's home on Poquito Road, he was on the roof of his two-story storage shed trying to put out a fire with a water house. Firefighters got him to come down and then put out the flames.
After the smoke cleared, firefighters found marijuana on the second story of the shed and called the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies found 18 pounds of marijuana in a freezer and 15 marijuana plants in the shed which they say was equipped with equipment and fertilizer used to grow the drug. They also found marijuana in the master bedroom of King's house.
King is charged with cultivation of marijuana and possession. A woman who also lives at the home, 34-year-old Maggie Friedlander, was charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
