Thursday morning officers thought they were responding to a car on fire at the Greater Gulf State Fairgrounds on Ziegler Boulevard.
Once the smoke cleared, they found April Baugh dead inside the vehicle and her husband, D'Haiti Baugh a few yards away from the car.
Police say D'Hati went to April's Saraland home and forced her to leave.
Friends and family say the couple had problems and separated.
"My wife and I talked with them a few weeks ago. They were having problems. We thought our talk with them did some good but evidently it didn't," said Rev. Norvell Glover.
Police say they don't have a motive in the case.
The couple had three children.

Friend for U: Thanks for posting. So often news reports do not make clear the situation, sometimes by accident and sometimes for sensationalism. After reading the article I had so many scenarios running through my head, the most fearful one was if her children had seen her abducted and quite frankly didn’t know what they should do. My heart breaks for the family and friends of this couple, their children are God’s children and I hope that someday they will find peace over this. I cannot imagine something so bad that would cause me to hurt my spouse and myself and leave our children without us. We may never know, but I am thankful that the children were not hurt during this horriffic crime. My prayers are with all of you during this time and the days and months to come.
