Investigators say 28-year-old Michael Williams shot and killed Dennis and Donna smith during an argument after Saturday night's football game.
Conecuh County Sheriff Edwin Booker tells News Five the argument started on the telephone when Dennis, an Alabama fan, called Williams.
Dennis and his wife then drove to Williams' trailer on County Road 19 in Conecuh County where they were both shot and killed.
News Five spoke with the couple's family. They believe the feud had to do with more than just football.
18-year-old Cassie Smith says she's devastated to lose her parents over something so senseless. "They was my best friend and my parents and they were great parents and they loved everybody," Said Smith. The couple's daughter tells News Five she was shocked to find out that her parent's alleged killer is someone she would have least suspected.
Meanwhile her uncle, Shannon Odom, says there had been bad blood between his half brother (Dennis) and 28-year-old Michael Williams for months.
Odom says family members spoke to Smith's wife just a few hours before the shootings happened.
"Donna called her mother and talked to her about the ballgame and what a game it was you know and how alabama pulled it out. And after that we don't know, we really don't. And we're just hoping and praying that this investigation will show and prove details that we need to know and give us closure,"Said Odom.
Dennis and Donna Smith leave behind, a daughter, son and one grandchild. Funeral arrangements are pending.

It is really sad that something like this would happen to any family. But you when you are provoked and you are already upset and mad you say and do things that you would not ordanarily do. That is where Satan comes in to destroy peoples lives. The bible will tell you that. But I am just commenting here, I just feel like the victim should have never drove to Michaels house. You do not start something and then go on someone’s property. That is wrong there, I say also and agree with the other commenters that there was other things that were going on to escalate the issue. I heard that the girlfriend was a relative of the victims. Well i just think that it was a bad idea for Smith to drive all the way here and go on someones property. I just feel that Michael was trying to protect himself.

People are doing some weird things at this time and it just pointing to the end of time. I just pray that everything works out in the end.
In closing, THIS SHOULD HAVE NEVER TAKEN PLACE!!!!!!

This is true as knowing both victims there is way more to this story then is being said… The football game was the icing on the cake if you must call it that. For those of us that know both victims I am in much disbielf of the stories being told. I don’t see Dennis going to grab his gun unless he felt the need to protect himself and his wife.  I believe shots were fired due to an arguement and instead of calling the cops or closing the door and walking inside, Mike felt he needed to do what he did. He knew what his intentions were and he took matters into this own hands and I pray he pays for taking the lives of two very Nice, Giving and well Loved people. Again this is the opinion of a close freind to both victims.

THEY ONLY REPORT THE SIDE THEY WANT PEOPLE TO BELIEVE.  NOT THE TRUTH.

I really WKRG would report that this had nothing to do with the football game.  I have a friend that knows these people personally and there was bad blood between for awhile.  Yes there was a phone call made and some things were probably said.  It goes much deeper than just football.  I wish sane people would realize that!

Okay what I do not understand is why people choose to kill one another over something that they had no control over.  I mean, none of these people actually played or coached the ballgame so why would you take something so PERSOAL.  Don’t get me wrong I am a big Florida fan and I have certain friends that I joke with when different games are played but we are all just joking.  I hate this for all the family members and friends of all those invoved in this traggic event.  Guns are not the answer, violence is not the answer, Good Lord people try talking about things and not taking things so seriously when we have no control over the outcome.
