- Alabama Board of Pardons and Paroles says Dan Thompson is the probation officer who was shot
- The other officer, Paul Morton, injured his hand during a struggle with Foehl.
- Foehl was on probation for a burglary conviction.
- Assistant Director Robert Oakes says he did not know how Foehl got a gun.

2:44 p.m.
- Mobile police have identified the suspect who was shot and killed as 32-year-old Christopher Foehl.
- One state probation officer was shot. The second sustained injuries to his hand during a struggle with Foehl. Both were transported to USA Medical Center.

10:52 a.m.
Mobile police are investigating a deadly shootout on Montauk Avenue in the middle of a Midtown neighborhood.

According to police, two probation officers were trying to arrest a suspect. The suspect took off. The chase turned into a shootout behind the Bay Haas building.

The suspect was killed. One of the probation officers was shot. Both of the officers have been taken to the hospital. Police are not releasing any names or conditions at this hour.

Yes, there is. Morton is fine. He broke his index finger on his right hand. Thompson is still in the hospital, but will make a full physical recovery.

Everyone but the suspect is OK. Thanks to some quick response on part of the Probation Officers. I won’t give any names, but one officer was struck in the neck, but it was just a serious graze, through and through from what I hear. Thank goodness for that, it really could have been much, much worse. Thanks to all Law Enforcement for keeping us safe. This guy was running away and he really could have hurt or killed someone.

Maybe some of our usual anti-law enforcement posters woulld like to fill in until these guys can return to duty. Not much really for them to do…just try keep track of your average thief, rapist, murderer…etc..and the occasional gun fight.
