WILMINGTON, N.C. (AP) - Authorities in North Carolina are
apologizing for disturbing a funeral and tasering one of the
pallbearers.
The Star-News of Wilmington says undercover agents decided to
serve an arrest warrant on the son of the man who was being buried
- as his coffin was being loaded into a hearse.
Relatives say the two deputies were dressed in coats and ties
and grabbed the man and kneed him in the back. Then they tasered
him.
The funeral was plunged into chaos and a pallbearer says "we
almost dropped the casket."
The officers had planned to quietly arrest Gladwyn Taft Russ
III, who's accused of threatening his ex-wife. He had agreed to
surrender after the funeral.
The county's sheriff's office says the agents should have waited
until after services had ended.

Some Police Officers today have no respect for the dead or those grieving for the dead. Just like the case in Mobile where they arrested the boy at his brothers funeral. Wrong is wrong, and his mother has been put through enough, without them arresting her son, while burying another one. It’s really disgusting if you think about it.

He was accused of THREATENING violence against his ex-wife, and they kneed him in the back before they tasered him. I don’t condone violence against women, and he should be dealt with, but he should be able to file assault charges against the two agents.

I could think of a few things to do to them and one of them wouldn’t have been suspension without pay.From what I read the man is involved in a domestic dispute with his ex-wife.It doesn’t seem like it would have hurt to wait until after the funeral.I guess he must have looked real dangerous carrying his father’s casket.

Thats so very disrespectful, i think those officers should be suspended without pay, that was a blatant abuse of power.
