BREAKING NEWSInvestigators close to the case tell News Five, the evidence against 47-year-old Jamie Letson is "rock solid."
According to three independent law enforcement sources, Letson confessed to the 1980 murder of Katherine Foster shortly before she was booked at Mobile Metro Jail on Friday.
Foster was found shot to death in a wooded area on the University of South Alabama campus on February 23, 1980. Her case had remained unsolved until now.
Letson was questioned about the murder early in the investigation, but was not arrested until last week. The Pascagoula native was living and working at a rehabilitation group home in Jackson, Mississippi.
Letson is being held on a $500,000 bond.
