NOTHING is impossible, only improbable. Two key things to getting rehabilitated off any drug, that is AMBITION(wanting to), and DISASSOCIATION(getting away from the chain). YOU CAN NOT be rehabilitated if you do not want help, and you can not stay clean, if you stay associated with the crowd that does dope.I burned a lot of bridges, and hurt many people emotionally, before I woke up and decided I wanted to change. LMAO, all it took for me was a good woman to make me wanna change. The fact that she was a Canadian, and me being able to break the chain(relocate), was an added bonus.I’m no idiot when it comes to the streets, I let a drug take control of my brain, and chased death for many years before I got smart.It’s too easy to do, especially if you hang out with the wrong crowd, as I did.By the way, I know that crack is not limited to any one area, but some areas it is more (blatantly)advertised than others. I’m glad I been there, cause it taught me I WAS NO BETTER THAN ANYONE ELSE!!!!

Well, first let me say DEW26M, congratulations on your victory over drugs. I have heard crack and meth are almost impossible to get off of. Crack isn’t limited to Prichard and Eight Mile, nor is meth or any other drug. I go all over the county as a nurse, and see suspicious areas all the time. One of my favorites, a trailer with no trespassing signs all over, and a video security camera to monitor who comes and goes. Another obvious one, people who have multiple pitbulls tied in their yards. And of course, as ya’ll have already stated the multitude of people who drive these pimped out cars, and have no “real” job as evidenced by them sitting on their porches all times of the day. Or several people congregated on a corner or in a particular area. Oh yeah, don’t forget the shoes thrown over the power lines!

CRACKHEADS can’t afford to make bond, therefore sitting in the Metro Jail.(REMEMBER the sheriff pockets ALL that extra FOOD MONEY, can you say BONUS)They get paid by the state for you to be in jail, the state reimbursed by the Federal Government. Thats 3 branches making money off one crackhead. If you arrest a dealer, you killing off at least 100(my guess) possession charges, therefore breaking the chain. Just like the previous comments state, WE ALL know who is selling crack/cocaine when we see them, don’t take a genius. Just like THEY(city/county/federal)agents know who is wholesaling crack, but overlook the fact, to bring in more crackheads. It’s like the old saying says “DON’T bite the hand that feeds you!!” It just pisses me off that I have seen the same people making over $1000 a day, since 1999, and never been in jail.

Yeah, if they legalized pot, dealers wouldn’t make all that money selling it, so maybe they’d go get real jobs…or start selling crack.

Naw! nothing suspicious about that or $3000 tire rims or at least the drivers don’t think so or about their $4000 a month house note. Unemployment & welfare sure pays good now. I confronted a male of about30 years old about it a while back, I shouldn’t have but I couldn’t stand it any longer I had to know. To my surprise he didn’t mind giving me his view on this. He said a lot of people have a need to work or they feel guilty. He said he didn’t feel guilty, all he wanted was what he was ENTITLED to,which he said was $2500 a month from state and federal programs(ENTITLEMENT PROGRAMS). I said you didn’t get that vehicle on $2500 a month or your house, He told me that was from “his other endeavors”. I figured I didn’t want to go any further. I guess he figured he was holding down two jobs and deserved everything he gets. Man! I gotta get street smart and learn how to work the system!

Is it just me, or does anyone else kind of do a double take when you see a person driving around in an Escalade and has no apparent job?

I would have to guess it has to do with money as usual. I have the impression that those using weed are predominantly working people who will have the money for fines,court costs and such while most of the crack heads are way beyond caring about working for money and if arrested they would only be a further draw on a city’s budget. I think I would concentrate more on crack dealers since probably most drug related crimes involve crack instead of weed. I don’t see how the Sheriff or the city police could see it any differently.

a minimum five-year prison term is mandatory for possession of or over 5 grams of crack, or 500 grams of powder cocaine. A 10-year mandatory minimum sentence is issued when an individual is convicted of possessing 50 grams of crack, or 5,000 grams of cocaine powder.

People say that is too strict on the crack, I say LAY IT TO THEM HARDER. 5 grams of crack, is WAY more than the “average” crackhead is going to have in his/her possession just to smoke. As bad as I hate to say it, I know this from experience. I have been down that road before, but unlike most, I got away from it.Hence the reason I can not stand to see it so easy for KIDS now days to purchase crack. You can ride around Mobile all day, and never find a bag of weed, but find crack corners less then 5 miles apart.If you seen what I seen, and knew what I know, weed would be on the last of a list of priorities.You can’t be a crackhead without crack.
