The Baldwin County Sheriff's Office has arrested a couple linked to three burglaries in the Daphne area. A resident on Jernigan Street called 911 around 2:49 Thursday morning to report a man and woman walking around his house. They drove off in a Pontiac Sunfire with the lights off.
A deputy spotted the car, pulled it over and questioned the driver, 33-year-old Stephanie Nelson. She told the deputy she didn't know why she was in the neighborhood and that she had been riding with a man named Edward Campbell.
While waiting on backup, the deputy saw a motion activated light turn off at a nearby house. Daphne police arrived and found Campbell lying on the ground outside the house. When they ordered him to show his hands, he got up and ran. Police arrested him after he jumped into a containment pond.
Police found several stolen items in the Pontiac and returned the property to rightful owners. Edwards and Nelson are both charged with burglary.

Someone needs to tell these robbers that it’s not a good idea to jump in just any pond. One thief got eaten that way.
