PITTSBURGH (AP) - A western Pennsylvania jail warden says he'll ask a judge to move an 11-year-old boy accused of killing his father's pregnant girlfriend to a juvenile detention center.

Lawrence County Warden Charles Amado said Sunday that his 300-inmate jail cannot offer proper long-term care for Jordan Brown, of Wampum. The boy has been in the county jail some 45 miles northwest of Pittsburgh since early Saturday.

Brown is charged as an adult with using his own 20-gauge shotgun to kill 26-year-old Kenzie Marie Houk while she lay in bed Friday morning.

Prosecutors are not discussing a motive, but experts on blended families say it's not unusual for children to feel anger and fury toward a parent's new mate.

MrsMills, with all due respect. i am not the one who said i would bring the child home and put my other children at risk. so if you want to talk about ignorant try looking at your own comment.

rosepetal,
I didn’t read all of your response because you were sounding to ignorant. I don’t condone murder, nor do I condone putting an 11 year old in adult prison for the rest of his life for a single act.

MrsMills, a tight budget is no excuse, the state will pay. the other kids you have i feel sorry for. you would put them at risk as well as yourself.  how do you think they would manage without you or how will you feel when one gets hurt. you do know the woman was pregnant, its bleeding hearts like you that puts the public at risk, there is always an excuse for a killer to kill.  this was not a case of a child playing with matches and the house burned before everyone got out. he put a shotgun to the womans head. he knew the shotgun killed animals he got it to go hunting. he knew the shotgun would kill a human he planned the murder, the blood did not make him
freak he went to school after blowing that womans head open.

Rosepetal,
If it wasn’t for me already having many kids and a tight budget, I probably would bring him home. Yes, this kid knew that death was final, just as a toddler knows not to touch the stove because it is hot. Just because they can reciet the words doesn’t mean anything. I imagine this boy did get dressed and go to school. I think he was probably in shock.
I find it amazing that an 11 year old kid can do something (as bad as it may be) and people are so willing to label him as a monster and throw away the key.
From what I have learned about children I find the people that are so sure he knew all ramifications for what he was doing to be ignorant.

before nintendo there was movies and tv. violence has always been glamorized. columbine was natural born killers, one couple was bonnie and clyde. no a ten year old knows death is final. can you imagine the mess a shotgun blast to the head left. the child did not freak out. he went to school. i do not believe this can be blamed on a game. JMO

I will say it once again, WE LIVE IN A NINTENDO SOCIETY.  Children see violence over and over again on their video games and the “player” gets many lives before it is game over.  I contribute a certain degree of the violence among children to the gaming industry because they do not have the ability to understand the FINALITY OF DEATH.  Many kids see life as a video game and they think that can take their anger out on the “villian” and in the end the “villian” will be there when it is over.  It is a shame the world we live in.  JMO

Mrsmills, I got my first BB gun at 10yrs old. Although this kid might have missed some of his developmental markers, by age 10 the markers of understanding life and death, right and wrong has been set at sub level by the very lest, as can be attested to by the lack of single parents do to the over crowding to 10yr olds in the jails. I do not think any help will bring this child into mainstream living on any level.  Before you pass judgment on Rosepetal or this kid, have you read Of Mice And Men, by John Steinbeck?  If you know this book and get to know Rose, then by all means do post back. George will want to talk with you to, as well as I.

yes, i do have children and i love them enough to know i want to protect them. now i would suggest you take this boy home with you. help him develope.

rosepetal,
As I said earlier you are ignorant about children and their development - as well as just cold hearted. I hope you don’t have any children!

well inless he had ever seen somebody come back from the grave, yes he did understand a shotgun blast to the head pretty well ends life forever. i am sorry for the victims. this boy planned this horrible murder, he knew by him pulling that trigger she would be dead, gone forever. he went to school afterwards. he should be locked up in a mental ward for the rest of his life to protect society from him.
