BOY ! I wouldn’t want to be the one deciding on the severity of her punishment. A young minor girl did a really stupid and foolish thing and two other young people are dead. No doubt punishment is called for but to what extent ? Do we throw the baby out with the dirty bath water and decide we lost 3 lives that day or try to salvage the one responsible and see if she can be a help in preventing such accidents in the future ? Regardless of the time she will serve, there should be a provision that requires her to visit and clean the graves of her two victims on their birthdays and holidays for the next 15 years and if I were the judge the driver of the other car racing with her would share in her grave yard requirements.

GulfPirate, the point is the guy in baldwin county’s first victims family wanted mercy because he was a teen. same thing mercy because a teen.  if given 10 years she would only serve maybe 2 or 3 then parole.

The guy in Baldwin county that hit and killed those on a bicycle was intoxicated. If you are under the influence while operating ANY vehicle and kill someone then justice should be swift and just. Alex deserves to be punished, I agree with that, I just can’t see a punishment that a lot of adults don’t even receive for doing worse.

she may not have done it intentionally but she also knew the chances of what could happen at that rate of speed. so i feel that she should get punished for her actions.

devon’s aunt , great reply. i really believe you will forgive alex one day, when you are ready. i believe forgiveness will be the beginning of the healing process if there is one.

DEW26M , like i said let us not go with victim blaming. she passed her drivers test did she not. it could have been only her who put her foot on that gas pedal. was she driving with a learners license or a drivers license? what should be done with her as far as putting her out to dry. i do not know, but what i do know is 2 people are dead. if she decided to race another car now what do you think should happen.?

I go on with my life everyday as hard as it may be. As for forgiveness-well, sometimes that doesn’t come so easy. Justice isn’t closure either. I will as will my family find our way to closure when we are ready. I just hope and pray that as people sit on here and have pity on Alex that people realize that’s why kids get away with this stuff. No one holds them responsible. Anyone can ask my kids and I hold them responsible for the trouble they get in. If you make things easy for them and solve all their problems all their lives, what does that do for them?!! Whatever, every parent deals with their kids in their own way, but this is how I see it!!

DEW26M-My sister was at work when her kids were in the car with Alex. Inexpericed most kids are not when it comes to driving. Just because she got her license at 16 doesn’t mean she has never driven a car until then. She had to learn to get them.
Her nightmares! You mean ones like my living nephew is having because at age 10 he was running around frantic trying to find everyone and make sure they were ok wehile she sat in her boyfriend’s car crying about what she was going to do and what she was going to tell her parents about the accident. Those nightmares?! My nephew tried to give CPR to his brother, checked for a pulse on Tasha, unbuckled Tobias from his seat belt as he was choking, checked on Alex and tried to drag Crystal out of the bushes. He’s 11! That’s the #### you want to talk about! Her nightmares.
I don’t act like she intentionally murdered them, but that she should take responsibility for speeding, weaving in and out of traffic and not considering the consequences.

An error in judgment was made by two parties, BOTH the parents of the children, and by
Alexandria Martin. There’s no way in hell I’d let my children in the car with a 16 year old driver who had just obtained a license. To “devon’s aunt from mi” NOTHING, not 5,10,or 100 years is going to bring them back.Just like nothing will take away the grief and nightmares this young woman will have for the rest of her life. You act as if she intentionally MURDERED these people. People, especially children and teens, make mistakes, and unfortunately, that’s how we learn. No doubt this is a tragic accident, but you will never feel content, even if they were to give her the chair.I hate to tell you, this is Alabama, not Michigan, we let child molesters out of jail in less than 5 years, they not gonna hang this girl out to dry. So if that’s all thats gonna bring you closure, you might wanna find it in your heart to forgive this girl, and try as hard as it’s gonna be, to get on with life.

AHP3436, does not matter if a 16 year old was responsible for 2 deaths they are still dead. remember the family of that guy on the bicycle in the eastern shore felt sorry for the young driver that killed their loved one, next thing you know how many more were killed. no i do not go for the 16 year old bull. she had to know right from wrong.

I agree that an error in judgement was made.  I’d also point out that it was made by a 16 year old girl with virtually no experience driving a car.  The results were terrible.

The facts in this case will come out.  I’ll see what happens just like everyone else.
