The Federal Bureau of Investigation in Mobile says so far this year, it has investigated 27 bank robberies in Mobile and Baldwin counties. Agents say that's a pretty high number for this area.
According to their research, most heists take place on a Friday between nine and eleven o'clock in the morning.
Some banks have security guards as a deterent, but most use surveillance cameras.
To keep crime down, financial institutions along the gulf coast have changed their policies on what you can wear inside.
"A lot of the banks are setting up policies now that you cannot wear hats and sunglasses into the bank and that's good. That allows that camera to get the picture we need. It allows the teller to see who she's dealing with. So that's a good practice for the banks to not allow hats or sunglasses or anything that would help disguise them," said FBI Mobile Spokesperson Agent Angela Tobon.
The FBI says the South region, which includes Alabama, Florida, and Mississippi, ranks the highest in the nation for bank robberies.
