Officials in Pittsburgh continue to investigate a bizarre newborn child abduction and murder case Saturday. Police say 38-year-old Andrea Curry-Demus was
arrested after taking the baby to the hospital claiming it was hers.

Officials confirmed the infant was cut out of the stomach of a pregnant woman not yet identified.

The victim was found Friday with her hands and feet bound by duct tape but the cause of death remains undetermined. Demus was being held on a ten-thousand dollars bond and is due in court Thursday.

She had served about seven years in prison for abducting two infants during two separate incidents and was diagnosed with severe depression, personality
disorders and, suffering from hallucinations.

The baby, reportedly taken on Wednesday, is in good condition and will be released to child welfare workers.

Demus allegedly told police that she purchased a newborn baby boy from a woman. The bizarre story began when paramedics took Demus to West Penn Hospital from a home in Wilkinsburg.

She claimed to have just given birth to the baby. The umbilical cord was still attached.

The doctors were suspicious and tests showed she was not the mother.

Police were called and in paperwork officers claimed Demus admitted to them to buying the baby from a woman she only knew as "Tina" for $1,000. Demus made news 18 years ago when she was accused of abducting a baby from Children's Hospital.

That same year, when she was known only as Curry, was also charged with stabbing a woman in an alleged plot to steal a newborn baby from a home in Wilkinsburg.

Demus told police she had a miscarriage in June and didn't want her mother to get upset about it.

That's why she started talking to this woman named "Tina" about getting the baby.

Demus claims the woman dropped off the newborn yesterday wrapped in a towel.

I agree Sum! Its sad the things people do repeatedly and get away with it. Sounds like to me this lady needs to be put away in some type of mental ward, you know there are place for folks like this. Sad, sad, sad, world we live in! Things like this aren’t supposed to happen in the U.S., but they let them do it again and again with little punishment. so what more can we expect right!

If she had a pre-existing mental ilness then why didn’t she get the treatment she needed? Repeat offenders.  There are too many and why? Loose court systems.
