EVERGREEN, Ala. (AP) - A south Alabama couple were shot dead
after an argument that witnesses said started over the Alabama-LSU
football game, but sheriff's investigators haven't yet determined a
motive.
And a relative of the victims says it was not game-related,
despite witness accounts.
The Conecuh County sheriff's office identified the victims as
41-year-old Dennis James Smith, and 39-year-old Donna Kaye Hall
Smith of Brewton.
The two were shot to death about 7 p.m. Saturday in the rural
community of Owassa in southern Alabama.
Sheriff's officials say 28-year-old Michael W- Williams was
arrested and charged with two counts of murder over the shooting at
his home, where he had watched the game. He's being held without
bond.
Dennis Smith's half-brother, Shannon Odom, says Smith was an
adamant Crimson Tide fan. He didn't know why the couple went to the
Williams home near Evergreen. He says the shooting may involve a
Williams relative, but, he says, it wasn't about the game, despite
witnesses accounts saying it was game-releated.
According to witnesses, Dennis Smith called Williams after the
game, and the Smiths then went to Williams' home, where a physical
altercation led to the shooting. Investigators said Dennis Smith
had a pistol and Williams had a shotgun and fired.

I’m willing to bet that neither one of these people never set foot in an LSU or Alabama classroom.

You know what isn’t it illegal to falsify information. i know Micheal and i knew everyone who was there and Micheal DID NOT CALL DENNIS some one else was on the phone with him and Dennis and Donna lied and said they were going somewhere else and then showed up at Micheals so who ever posted this article needs to get their information right. It was self defense and they were told not to come over there anyway so they were trespassing and they showed up and jumped on my friend and his fiance` and then pointed a gun in his face. Clearly self defense. Micheal is not crazy and he would never take some one’s life unless they were trying to take his life.

I am a huge football fan and never would I dream this to have happened. I was at the game, believe me I was infear of my life leaving, but it was in all fun!
If this was in self defense, how can he be charged with murder.
Lighten up people, it was just a game.
I bet ya that alcohol played a huge part in this.

You know its a shame at how low our society gotten to kill one another over a stupid football game.  Really People, You should all get a life because there is more to life than a meaningless game of football.  My thoughts and prayer are with the families of such a sinceless act of ignorance.
