DOTHAN, Ala. (AP) - Houston County Sheriff Andy Hughes says aninmate's bid to escape the county jail on Saturday was foiled by a
correctional officer.
He said 19-year-old Gregory Antonio Patterson used a hidden
hacksaw to cut through a cell bar.
He said an observant correctional officer saw the damaged and
searched Patterson's cell.
Hughes said deputies found the hacksaw in the back cover of a
bible.
Patterson, who awaits trial for two armed robberies, now faces
an escape charge.
Investigators are trying to learn who smuggled the hacksaw into
the jail.
