A Montgomery man is charged with the capital murder of his wife, the owner of the AniMall pet store who disappeared more than eight years ago. Attorney General Troy King announced that Albert L. Wilding, 79, today was arrested by agents of the Attorney General’s Office around 4 o’clock this afternoon as he was leaving his residence. Attorney General King’s Office presented evidence to a Montgomery County grand jury on August 15, resulting in Wilding’s indictment*. Specifically, the indictment charges that Wilding intentionally caused the death of Judie Wilding, and that the murder was done for financial gain that included proceeds from life insurance and/or other assets. The indictment states that Wilding is charged with capital murder, which is punishable by life imprisonment without parole or the death penalty.
“With the work of my cold case unit, justice delayed is no longer necessarily justice denied, but is becoming justice delivered--delivered to those who have waited far too long,” said Attorney General King.
No further information about the investigation or about Wilding’s alleged crimes other than that stated in the indictment may be released at this time.
