STUART, Fla. (AP) - The owner of a Sunoco gas station on
Florida's east coast says someone stole nearly $4,000 worth of gas
from her station.
The station owner told Martin County Sheriffs on Tuesday that
sometime between 9 a.m. Monday and 10 a.m. Tuesday someone made off
with 988 gallons of premium unleaded fuel. The fuel was worth
$3,952 and the shortage was discovered when computers showed a
large amount of fuel missing.
The owner told deputies that she feared that someone had
breached the locks on the fuel pumps and may do it again.

yes i have heard it also. that is the sad thing about not staying open all night. even if you lock you tanks they can still pop those locks. all the anit theft things do not help inless you are there to hear the alarm.

988 gallons is actually 23 barrels a U.S. barrel of oil is 42 gallons, a drum is 55 gallons. Somebody had a tank truck and siphoned it at night, mostlikely. I’ve read stories about this happening in other places also. People drive by thinking the truck/tanker is filling the station, when actually they are siphoning the gas from the tanks.

That’s 18 barrels…How do you fill up 18 barrels without catching it on camera or someone driving by noticing??
