Walter Owens stands by a machine that fills the bed of his pickup truck. He points at it and says, "This is the key to the universe...having a source of power that is unlimited"
That's a pretty big claim. And it sounds a little like the quest for a perpetual motion machine. But Walter Owens says it's just a matter of science and engineering,
In October Owens made a video tape of his generator at work....Today the blue motor is not working correctly, and we did not see the apparatus in action. But here's what we learned:
The idea is a generator that produces so much electricity, it not only runs itself, but puts out a surplus...at least enough for an entire house.
Sound far fetched- He had it tested in Pensacola. And sure enough...the system produced over four thousand six hundred watts, but only needed about three thousand one hundred watts to run itself.
It creates usable power from static electricity. Inside the generator is a system of magnets, and coils, and wool.
Owens explains, "The sheep's wool picks up the static and drives it though the coils."
Well, there's plenty of static electricity around...and Owens holds 15 patents...some for farm equipment...a two person pontoon boat that fits in the back of a pickup truck. He even built a vending machine that delivers one newspaper at a time.
Currently, he has an upcoming monitored test involving the generator creating its own power for three straight days.
Meteorologist Jere Hough holds a big piece of fuzz. "Sheep's wool, and it's ability to create static electricity, a key ingredient in Walter Owen's generator. The answer to our country's energy needs- We'll see. On County Road 5 in Florala, Alabama, I'm Jere Hough News 5."
(TAG) AFTER THE THREE-DAY TEST, OWENS HAS AGREED TO BRING THE GENERATOR TO OUR STUDIOS FOR A DEMONSTRATION.
