(INTRO) SOME FAMILIES HAVE MORE THAN THEIR SHARE OF TRAGEDY. BUT SOMETIMES, THEY FIND SPECIAL STRENGTH TO DEAL WITH LOSS. METEOROLOGIST JERE HOUGH VISITS WITH A WOMAN WHO FOUND THAT STRENGTH IN AN UNUSUAL WAY.

Despite a terrible car accident fourteen years ago, Wendy Pilkington has a deep faith...you could say she's a living miracle.

She says the Doctors had very bad news for her mother after the accident. "They told my mom that if I lived, which they doubted, that I would never move anything except my eyes...(TOUCHES HAIR), I can move it all now."

She is confined to a wheel chair and now resides at the Citronelle Convalescent Center.  She is being interviewed on the beautiful patio and garden area at the Center. Last December, her brother, Sidney Lee Pilkington, brought his family here for a visit. He had been very ill himself.

"Mom said he's come home to tell everybody goodbye." says Wendy Pilkington. "I told Mom I didn't think God was finished with him yet, and I knew Mom didn't have any recent pictures of him so I took some pictures of him and his wife and two children, out here."

Her brother did pass away in February. The day after, a friend took the chip from camera and had all 150 pictures developed...one photo had something extra, perhaps another miracle for Wendy Pilkington.

If you look closely , there seems to be an image on her bother's right shoulder. "I thought it was the hand of God."

After the funeral she showed the picture to her sister in law. "She said that was the most beautiful picture she'd ever seen. She started crying. She said, 'That's God, ain't it, Wendy-' And I said, 'Yeah, that's God."

This is no printing error; the image is still stored in the camera...it's the same.

Looking at the photo, she says, "This picture has gave my family so much peace...God showed us where he was....but I know this picture was meant for more than just my family."

Meteorologist Jere Hough is standing about where the photograph was taken. He is holding the camera. "The image that's on this camera may or may not touch you, but it does raise some very provocative questions, and for some, it provides some very important answers. On County Road 5, in Citronelle, Alabama, I'm Jere Hough, News 5."

(TAG) MRS. PILKINGTON CONTINUES TO TAKE LOTS OF PICTURES...MOSTLY OF THE MANY BIRDS THAT VISIT THE PATIO AT THE CONVALESCENT HOME.
