MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - Alabama transportation officials willdiscuss the next step in a construction project on the new U.S.
Highway 98 corridor in Mobile County.
The state Department of Transportation has scheduled public
meeting for 6 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church of Wilmer.
DOT spokesman Tony Harris says officials will give an update on
the project including construction and environmental progress and
hear public comment.
Harris says the community outreach group on U.S. 98 was formed
in June and has met five times.
Construction began in 2006 and work is currently concentrated on
approximately eight miles from the Mississippi border to just east
of Big Creek Lake.
