NEW YORK (AP) - Experts are predicting that gas prices haven'tfinished their record setting streak.
They say prices will continue their upward climb as refiners and
gas stations switch from winter- to summer-blended fuels.
The price jump at the pump, which could begin as early as
February in Southern California, may push the national average to
$3.50 a gallon or more by June.
Analysts are predicting the spike based on a shortage of the
expensive gasoline additive alkylate (AL'-kuh-layt), known in the
industry as "liquid gold."
Alabama motorists are paying an average of $2.90 a gallon for
regular, according Triple A's daily survey. Nationally, the average
price for regular is $2.98.
