BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Alabama state troopers are preparing to
launch another statewide traffic blitz. The week-long initiative
starts Wednesday.
Troopers, joined by county and municipal police departments,
will focus on impaired drivers.
It part of the Department of Public Safety's "Take Back Our
Highways" program. It would mark the 4th such campaign this year.
Troopers will use nine mobile DUI-testing labs called Batmobiles
at various checkpoints.
The crackdown runs through Nov. 26.
Public Safety officials said a 5th statewide traffic crackdown
will begin Dec. 17 and end on Christmas Eve.
