The titans of advertising are getting their biggest screen test of the year this Sunday. A 30-second ad during the Super Bowl runs a whopping $2.7 Million. And for that price, every ad hopes to score a touchdown with viewers.
Advertisers want eyeballs and with about 140 Million Americans watching, the Super Bowl is the holy grail.
Anheuser-Busch is the exclusive alcohol advertiser and has the most ads, seven, costing nearly $20 Million dollars. Ad experts say it's worth every penny for the big guns.
"They are as competitive as football teams," says advertising executive Jerry Della. "They really want to in the Super Bowl race."
Marketers know they've got a captive crowd at Super Bowl parties and tailgates, too.
Brent Melville with Extreme Touch Marketing says "there is actually going to be 6 units walking around the Super Bowl promoting a very high end product."
As always, expect cars, computers, snacks, and celebrities and lots of humor.
So forget those bathroom breaks and beer runs. Keep those eyeballs glued to the TV.
