Some companies belong to roadside assistance programs so when that phone rings, they're responding to more drivers who don't have enough fuel to go that extra mile.
Donnie Mizell with Mizell Affordable Towing told News Five people simply don't have enough money to pay the high gas prices.
He said he saw that first hand for a driver who called him four times in one day.
"There was a guy that ran out of gas on Dauphin Island. We went down, brought him two gallons, come back to the shop. Before I could get back here, road service called again -- 'we need you to bring gas to somebody here.' I get out there, it's the same guy. Give him two gallons. I come back here, phone rings again, go back out, it's the same guy. He used all four of his services to try to get home. He had no money and he was going from Dauphin Island to Tillman's Corner," said Mizell.
Allstate Motor Club says slow down...don't be in a rush.
Driving aggressively or speeding then slamming on brakes can actually waste gas.
For every five miles that you drive over 60 miles per hour.
That's just like paying an additional 15-cents per gallon for gas.
Also, keeping your car maintained and in tip-top service helps on gas too.
Checking and replacing air filters can improve your car's gas mileage by as much as ten percent.
Plus, keeping your tires properly inflated will help you in the long run.
And you can improve your gas mileage by using the recommended grade of oil for your vehicle.

This might not be something to increase your mileage but it will certainly put some money back in your pocket if you have a business. IRS just increased the mileage deduction rate from 50.5 to 58.5 cents for every mile. There is an exciting business tool that captures your mileage automatically (hands free) and sends this information through wireless networks to http://www.MileageLogger.com . I think is a great tool to get your money back when is time to do your taxes.
