Restaurant Score Cards Now Available Online

The state health department has unveiled a new Web site that lists scores for more than 23,000 restaurants and food service establishments thoughout Alabama. Restaurant Score Cards Now Available Online

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - The state Department of Public Health
has unveiled a new Web site that lists scores for more than 23,000
restaurants and food service establishments thoughout Alabama.
Users may search the new site by county, city or establishment
name.
State Health Officer Dr. Donald Williamson said at a news
conference Friday the scores can help the public make informed
choices about where they purchase food and the restaurants where
they eat.
The department anticipates the initiative may lessen the
incident of foodborne illnesses by encouraging establishments to
improve their food service sanitation practices.

Is this a blooper on the health department’s part or is the list just the ones they want you to see?

That is kind of useless because every search puts up the same alphabetized list of a few Mobile Co. food places.

I tried the web site and never could get a score on any of the eating places I entered and all of them have been in the business for quite some time, years. Is this a voluntary thing to be on this list or required ? Might be a possible way for some to be not listed if their scores were low.

The link to the website is in the above copy where the word “Website” is underlined and in blue.

You’ll also find the link to the right in the WKRG.com Related Resources column, where it says “Health Inspection Scores”.

Did I miss the link? Where is the web site?
Are small establishments allowed to have animals in the kitchen or on the table? I think I need to report a place that we ate breakfast, but what do I need to do?
