On any given day, they say drivers fly through their neighborhood exceeding the 25 mile per hour speed limit.
A couple of years ago, they got a speed bump, but they say that doesn't help.
They're afraid that children who play in the neighborhood are going to get hit because someone refuses to slow down.
"This is not a drag strip, this is not a speedway. just be mindful of where you are. This isn't the interstate, there are kids playing, there are animals in the neighborhood. I just don't want there to be something tragic happening here because people don't know how to mind the speed limit," said Williams Street resident Becky Sansbury.
People living on Williams Street called the city of Mobile's helpline: 3-1-1 to request a speed limit sign.
A spokesperson with the traffic and engineering department said it should be up in about a week.

Thanks for your support, Madcap. I wasn’t going to add my comments, but I just thought I would express my views since this is a public forum and I do live in Mid-Town. Oh, by the way MeAmerican, I don’t have children, my animal is behind a fence and I certainly do not “play” in the street. I was refering to almost being hit while driving in my vehicle, and the last time I checked, it was ok to drive my vehicle…right? Sorry if voicing my opinion offends you, MeAmerican…just in case you are unaware, this is indeed a PUBLIC forum. You seem so happy…I am sure you are just an absolute joy to be around, full of positivity and happiness. Maybe you just need a hug? Either way, regardless of what part of town I live in, I would still want to voice my comments…I think you would too. Good luck with all of your happiness and positivity that seems to eminate from you and thanks for being so helpful and understanding!
