MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - A new survey shows that about two thirds of
Alabamians own a gun and nearly half have permits to carry
concealed weapons.
The new Press-Register/University of South Alabama poll surveyed
424 Alabama residents has a 5 percent margin of error and was
conducted last Monday through Thursday.
More than 80 percent of people polled said they agree with the
U.S. Supreme Court's ruling last month that overturned a handgun
ban in the nation's capital.
The poll results reflect a gun ownership rate that is almost
double that in the rest of the country.
Keith Nicholls, director of the USA Polling Group, said the
survey results aren't surprising since Alabama is a pretty
conservative state where a lot of people hunt.

I think the thought running among us is the same . Guns are only as good or bad as the people holding them. Who was it that said “ GIVE ME FIVE GOOD AND TRUE WELL ARMED MEN THAN 500 ARMED WITH NOTHING BUT GOOD INTENTIONS “ ?

I think this poll is great. I am pleased that Alabama citizens are making an effort to control our prison population. It cost taxpayers more than forty thousand dollars a year to house these prisoners.

A box of bullets cost less than twenty dollars.

MeAmerican, are you trying to say that alll gun owners or just the illegal ones kill people? kind of a general thought, don’t you think. My wife and I both carry for our own protection, if law enforcement would enforce the current laws we would might not feel the need to carry, but when a person shoots somebody, rapes somebody or robs someone at gunpoint and then is out on bail in 24 hours and does the same thing and still gets bail again. Well, lets just say I don’t plan on becoming a statistic. We both go to the range and practice once a month and have taken several safety courses so we would make sure we are safe in the way we carry, also both of us are retired military with lots of training and practice.
I reserve the right to carry and fully enjoy it.

How many criminals have guns and how many have them concealed? All of ‘em! So by this report, two thirds of the law abiding citizens have guns and all the criminals do, you have a 33% chance of being shot by a criminal with a gun. That figure is only good if the law abiding citizen isn’t in the middle of a fried chicken meal or unprotected sex.

But keep in mind kiddies guns don’t kill people. Gun owners kill people!

Two thirds own a gun and about half carry a concealed gun and about 5 that really know how to treat a gun as a dangerous weapon.
