FORT VALLEY, Ga. (AP) - Georgia pecans are a hit in China.A Ft. Valley pecan grower says he's shipping tons at a time
overseas, exporting pretty much all of what is left of the 2007
crop, with hopes of helping farmers with their 2008 crop as well.
Thomas Mason of Mason Pecan International, one of Ft. Valley's
largest pecan growers, is working with a number of farmers across
the region to sell their cold storage crops to China, including
Buck Paulk of Shiloh Farms.
Paulk says Mason's trucks shipped more than two million pounds
of last year's pecans to Hong Kong from his farm's freezer storage
unit this week.
Paulk says he has not yet committed the 2008 pecans to any
buyers as he's waiting to see how the harvest goes this fall.
Mason flew to China earlier this year to talk to representatives
from several Asian countries interested in Georgia pecans.

We introduced pecans, especially the flavored ones and pralines to our exchange student from France. She loved them!!! She took back a tin of Tanner’s pralines. She also liked our hot boiled peanuts!
