All aboard! Mobile's Cruise terminal is getting a bigger ship.Carnival Cruise Lines announced Monday afternoon that it will move Fantasy from New Orleans to Mobile at the end of next season. Mobile has been the Fantasy's temporary home since last month's oil spill on the Mississippi River.
"Mobile has been waiting for this for a long time," said Mayor Sam Jones. "We knew that mobile would be a great cruise city and it's turned out to be just that. And we are just proud of what we see here today. The fantasy is excellent. We think it's a perfect fit."
Fantasy is 127 longer than Holiday, Mobile's current cruise ship. It can hold 604 more passengers and 260 more crew members.
Carnival will sell Holiday. It plans to announce the fate of the New Orleans cruise terminal tomorrow.
We'll have much more on today's big announcement tonight on News 5 at 5:00 and 6:00.

I agree and they need to figure out a better way to deal with the traffic than what they are doing now. It was horrible with the Holiday and now it’s going to be twice as bad! I’m constantly dodging buses at my job.
