WASHINGTON (AP) - Looks like that proposed marriage of Siriusand XM satellite radio is getting closer to the "I do" stage. The
merger is pending the approval of the Federal Communications
Commission. The panel is divided on the issue, with two
commissioners in favor and two opposed. The one on the fence is
said to be ready to support the merger, if the companies settle
their past rules violation. Sirius has been poised to take over its
sole rival in the satellite radio business, XM Satellite Radio. The
companies announced their intention to merge in February of last
year. The Justice Department cleared the combination this past
March.
