UNDATED (AP) - Some parents appear to be turning to "Plan B"when it comes to holiday shopping.
With recalls because of lead -- and another toy tainted with a
date rape drug -- retailers are having to deal with a whole new
level of worry among parents.
The toy, Aqua Dots, was on many retailers' hot lists, and retail
executives say there are very few substitutes.
Many toy merchants say so far shoppers largely have not been
rejecting Chinese-made toys, but they are being choosier. A poll
done last month by Harris Interactive showed that one-third of
Americans say they will be buying fewer toys this holiday season
due to safety concerns, and 45 percent say they will avoid buying
toys made in China.
