LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - The secret at KFC will be out today, sort
of.
Colonel Harland Sanders' handwritten fried chicken recipe
blending those 11 herbs and spices is going to be moved from its
home in a locked file cabinet inside a vault to an undisclosed
location. After KFC headquarters in Louisville, Kentucky,
modernizes the recipe's permanent hideaway, it will be returned.
The recipe has been in the file cabinet for more than 20 years.
Ex-New York City police detective Bo Dietl (DEE'-tul) has been
hired to protect the recipe, which will be tucked away in a
briefcase handcuffed to him when it is whisked away by armored car.
The 68-year-old concoction for the colonel's Original Recipe
fried chicken is regarded as KFC's crown jewel.

Sorta reminds me of when I was deep into electronics and the repairing of them. The mechanical tuners were a booger to work on, but they had this one place that said they had a million dollars worth of equipment to repair them right. I got a peek back there one time and there sat one little Japanese with a multimeter and soldering gun. Advertiseing is the secret.

When I was about 19 or 20 I worked at this little start-up restaurant chain and their claim to fame were their famous biscuits made from old grannies secret recipe. The menu told a nice story about old grannie, but the recipe was self-rising flour, lard and buttermilk. Whoop-de-doo!
. Knowing how to market an idea and run a business is what made KFC what it is today.

Come on, let’s be real! I find it hard to believe that this old dude actually concocted 11 herbs and spices. Let’s not play dumb, everybody knows who really was in the kitchen cooking. Probably someone that back when this recipe originated, could only enter through the back of the house they were working in. I believe this guy took the recipe, marketed it and got the credit and $$$ for it.

I wonder if he really did come up with that secret ingredients, or if he had a housekeeper/nanny working in his home that actually came up with the recipe, gave the recipe to him, and he profitted from it. Or, maybe he hung around in “certain” neigborhoods and got the recipe. Hmmm.
